EUROPEAN REGULATIONS AND GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES
The production site located in Riudoms has a total surface area of 3,600 m2 over two floors. The different pharmaceutical products are manufactured on the top floor and then move through tubes that pass through the ceiling down to the ground floor where they are prepared and packed. This vertical system therefore minimises the possibility of cross contamination. The plant specialises in penicillin and non-penicillin pharmaceutical products.
SP Veterinaria has five production plants: three in Spain (Riudoms, Reus and Castellon), one in Venezuela and one in Algeria.
The production plants in Venezuela and Algeria are dedicated to the manufacture of pharmaceutical and nutritional products and vaccines. The Reus plant specialises in the production of insecticides and disinfectants.
Production meets GMP standards through the use of a suitable air treatment system which prevents the transmission of substances between one room and another, through an internal recirculation system in each room, pressure cascade system from Low Particle Clean Air to normal enviromental in-room air quality.
An essential component of pharmaceutical production is the water used for the manufacture and subsequent cleaning of the machinery used in producing and packaging products. This water must be qualified as ultrapure, having no chemical or microbiological contaminants.
When the final product is ready for the market, it is also stored in GMP conditions, under temperature control and constant monitoring. The whole control system, from supplier validation, active ingredients, production process validation, process control and release of the product onto the market is carried out following GMP regulations and is defined as Quality Assurance.
